The MPO Toobox presented by www.stereoscopynews.com
=============

The MPO Toolbox is a suite of four small applications solving various issues for FUJIFinePix REAL 3D W1 camera owners.

Version
======
v1.0 18 MAY 2010

This software is intended to be used under any version of the Microsoft Windows operating system (32 or 64 bit).

What is an .MPO file?
================
Definition of a MPO file in Wikipedia : Also known as a Multi-Picture Object or Multi-Picture Format, the MPO file format was first used in the FinePix REAL 3D W1 camera, made by FujiFilm. The format is proposed as an open standard by CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association) as CIPA DC-007-2009. It contains multiple JPEG images with respective thumbnails and metadata.

ZIP file content
============

The MPO-Toolbox.zip file contains this MPO-Toolbox-readme.txt file, the four programs described below and jpeg62.dll, a non-executable resource file needed by the four applications. Leave all files in a single directory for optimal operation.

MPO2JPEGS
========
MPO2JPEGS is a simple Windows application. Just drag and drop one or more .MPO files onto the program icon or its shortcut and it will generate a pair of Left and Right .jpg image files for each source image. The new files will appear in the same directory as the original .MPO file.

MPO2JPS
========
MPO2JPS is a simple Windows application. Just drag and drop one or more .MPO files onto the program icon or its shortcut and it will generate another file in .jps image format for each source image. The new files will appear in the same directory as the original .MPO file.

.jps images are basically files containing a concatenation of the data from a matching stereoscopic pair of .jpg images (right image, then left image). This format is standardized under the "JPEG Stereo (jps)" name. Renaming a .jps file with a .jpg extension makes it readable by all existing image editing software.

MPO2ANAGLYPH
========
MPO2ANAGLYPH is a simple Windows application. Just drag and drop one or more .MPO files onto the program icon or its shortcut and it will generate a single red/cyan anaglyph image file for each source image. The new files will appear in the same directory as the original .MPO file.

Red/Cyan anaglyph images must be seen with red and cyan glasses with the red lens on the left eye. The image is then perceived in 3D directly on screen, but also on paper after printing with a good color printer.

MPO2DUBOIS
========
MPO2DUBOIS is a simple Windows application and a variant of the above MOP2ANAGLYPH. Just drag and drop one or more .MPO files onto the program icon or its shortcut and it will generate a single red/cyan anaglyph image file for each source image. The new files will appear in the same directory as the original .MPO file.

With MPO2DUBOIS, the colors of the original picture are modified in order to reduce the brightness difference between left and right images for the red objects that are difficult to perceive in 3D with the standard anaglyph method. Use only when MPO2ANAGLYPH gives unsatisfactory results.
